Inquiry-based learning is a process that harnesses the innate curiosity of humans to drive learning through the formulation and exploration of questions.

The roots of inquiry-based learning pass through the late– to mid–20th century with the educational theories of John Dewey, Jean Piaget and Jerome Bruner, and they reach all the way back to the ancient Greek philosophers Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. However, the ideas are just as fresh and vital as ever—perhaps even more so.

This website explores the ideas of inquiry-based learning and how the school library media specialist can become an integral part of its success.
