Welcome!
Listening to audiobooks as a leisurely activity has been a pasttime of adults for decades now, from the early audiocassettes to the current MP3s. Over this time, the publishing industry has included children and young adult selections in their audiobook libraries in an attempt to secure this audience as well. Public libraries are known to purchase these materials for all ages, while many school libraries lag behind and fail to recognize or even consider the potential benefits of an audiobook collection.
It is my hope that K-12 school librarians will leave this website with sufficient evidence and support for starting, promoting, and maintaining their own audiobook collections. While this may not be possible or even ideal for some school libraries, I do believe that many will find something in these pages that speaks to their particular situations.
